Charges Upgraded In North Tryon Street Homicide
The charges were originally voluntary manslaughter but have been upgraded to murder, according to Charlotte Police.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have upgraded charges in the death of Malik Fidel Whitney, according to the department.
Darrel McKinley is now charged with murder; he was previously charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Detectives continued to investigate this incident and received new evidence that led them to upgrade the charge to murder, per police.
