Charlotte Bus Driver Shooting Suspect Found And Arrested In Kansas

A 21-year-old is in custody and charged with killing a CATS city bus driver in Charlotte during a road rage incident.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of CATS bus driver Ethan Rivera, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Police say Rivera was involved in a road rage incident in early February on West Trade Street and died from his gunshot wound a day later on Feb. 12.

Darian Dru Thavychith, 21, was taken into custody in Kansas. It involved alphabet soup, but everyone deserves credit: through a collaborative effort of the CMPD’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT), Homicide, FBI Charlotte, FBI Kansas City, FBI Nashville, Secret Service Charlotte, NC SBI, Nashville Airport Police, Castle Rock Police Department, (Castle Rock, CO) the US Attorney’s Office Western District of North Carolina and the Shawnee Police Department (Shawnee, KS).

Thavychith is charged with murder and shooting into occupied property in the homicide of Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus driver Ethan Rivera on February 11.
