Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Receive Body Camera, Taser Funds
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were approved to receive money for body cameras and tasers from city council.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police will receive additional money for body cameras and tasers, approved in this week's city council meeting.
Approximately 1,750 tasers need to be replaced, and 3,500 cameras.
The new cameras listed for purchase will have clearer picture and audio, per police.

The total cost of the upgrades and replacements exceed $4 million, according to The Observer, which reports the contract is with Axon Enterprise.
The cameras being replaced are older than five-years-old.
