Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Approve 2022-2023 School Calendar

CHARLOTTE, NC — While students in the Charlotte metro have about a month left of summer before a new school year begins Aug. 25, school officials already have their eyes ahead on the next school year.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education recently approved the 2022-2023 school calendar after soliciting community input in a public survey. Options up for vote included the duration of winter holidays, teacher workday scheduling and whether to take Spring Break the week before or after Easter Sunday.

The first day of school for the 2022-2023 school year will once again be in late August, with the scheduled last day of school taking place two weeks after Memorial Day.

Here's a run down of major dates on the CMS 2022-2023 calendar:

• Aug. 29, 2022 — First day of school
• Sept. 5, 2022 — No school
• Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 — No school
• Nov. 23 - Nov. 25, 2022 — No school
• Dec. 20, 2022 — Jan. 3, 2021: — Winter holiday, no school
• April 7 - April 14, 2022 — Spring break, no school
• June 9, 2022 — Last Day of School
