Charlotte Middle School Teacher Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
The teacher has worked for CMS since 2005 and became the subject of a cyber crimes investigation in November. He was arrested Tuesday.
CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Cyber Crime unit has charged Charlotte middle school teacher Adrian Wayne Taylor, 48, with multiple counts of second degree exploitation of a minor.
Police say their investigation into Taylor began in November when the Cyber Crimes Unit and the FBI started looking into the possession and distribution of illegal pornographic materials.
February 8, officers served a search warrant on Taylor at his home in Matthews in conjunction with their police department.

Police say they discovered physical evidence of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor during the search, and Taylor was on site when it happened and arrested.
Detectives discovered during the investigation that Taylor was an employee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system.

Taylor has worked for CMS since 2005, first at J.T. Williams Middle School until 2007 and then at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology until 2014. Currently, he is listed as a teacher at Community House Middle School in Charlotte.
Principal Brian Slattery sent a note to parents this week.
"An active investigation is underway by law enforcement, and CMS will cooperate fully with investigators. I take these matters very seriously and will be working with law enforcement to address them in a manner that ensures the well-being of all students and is in accordance with district policies," Slattery wrote.
Taylor was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail. Taylor was charged with three counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
CMS and CMPD did not say whether or not any of the materials found involved students.
