Charlotte Woman Receives Scratch Off Ticket As Gift, Wins $2M

The bar for gift giving was raised to a whole new level recently when a Charlotte woman was given a scratch-off lottery ticket and won big.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A Charlotte woman received the gift of a lifetime recently, when a family friend's present of a $20 scratch-off ticket scored her a $2 million lottery win.

“It’s kind of surreal,” Karen Urtecho Sandrez told North Carolina Education Lottery officials when she collected her prize in Raleigh last week. “I could not believe it, honestly,” she said.

The winning 100X The Cash scratch-off was purchased at Lucia Food Mart on Killian Road in Stanley, North Carolina, NCEL said.
