City of Charlotte To Require Workers Verify Vaccination Status
City employees will begin verifying their COVID vaccination status next week, Human Resources said Thursday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — City of Charlotte employees will soon be required to verify their COVID-19 vaccination status, human resources officials said Thursday.
"The City of Charlotte cares about the safety and health of all our employees," the city said in an Aug. 5 email to workers. "Public health data shows the delta variant of COVID-19 is creating a surge in COVID-19 cases in our community. We also know that the delta variant is different than past forms of the virus in that it is more easily transmissible. The city believes that the best way to protect our employees and the community we serve is through vaccination, which is why the city is requiring employees to share information about their vaccination status."
Forms will be available next week, and employees have 10 days to complete them, the city said.

The new countywide policy, announced in an email sent by Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio, is requiring about 5,600 county government employees to verify their vaccination status beginning Sept. 1, or face weekly COVID testing, WSOC reported. The indoor mask requirement will be in place until the vaccination plan is fully implemented, the station said.
