CMPD Seeks Attempted Rape Suspect In Laundromat Attack

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is requesting the public's assistance in identifying the suspect of a recent assault and attempted rape that occurred at 2111 Beatties Ford Rd., on December 1st, according to the department.

The victim, a woman, told police a black male in his 20s with dreads "like Coolio" missing his top two front teeth or had a gap in them attempted to rape her behind a laundromat before midnight.

She told police she met the suspect just a short while before the incident and voluntarily agreed to walk with him.

Detectives were able to get surveillance video of the incident. The suspect was wearing a blue polo shirt with an unknown logo, a toboggan style hat and dark colored pants. He was also wearing a distinctive camouflage Boston Celtics backpack.
