CMS Schools Makes Decision About 2021 Graduation Plans

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will hold in-person, socially distant graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021 this year, the school district announced Wednesday.

While ceremonies will be in-person, each graduate will be allowed only two guests, the school district said. Ceremonies will take place at the Bojangles Coliseum, Ovens Auditorium and the Charlotte Convention Center, and will also be livestreamed.

"All graduating seniors will be recognized by name during their school’s graduation ceremony, regardless of in-person ceremony attendance," the school district said.

“Graduation is a time-honored tradition and we are looking forward to providing in-person celebrations for our graduates," Superintendent Earnest Winston said in a statement. "The 2021 Graduation Committee carefully considered health and safety as they explored the best ways for our students and families to celebrate this important occasion.”

• Cato Middle College High School — Wednesday, May 26, 10 a.m., Bojangles’ Coliseum
• Harper Middle College High School — Wednesday, May 26, 10 a.m., Bojangles’ Coliseum
• Merancas Middle College High School — Wednesday, May 26, 1 p.m., Bojangles’ Coliseum
• Levine Middle College High School — Wednesday, May 26, 1 p.m., Bojangles’ Coliseum
• Charlotte Engineering Early College — Wednesday, May 26, 4 p.m., Bojangles’ Coliseum
