Crash That Took Out Light Pole Causing Traffic Delays In South Charlotte

The crash took place in the early morning hours of Thursday, but a light pole had to be replaced, causing delays.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A crash that happened in the early morning hours has caused delays in the early morning commute in south Charlotte.

The crash happened after 2:30 a.m. on Old Pineville Road just south of Woodlawn Road, according to local news affiliate WSOC. A driver struck a light pole, severely damaging it.

According to Mecklenburg EMS, no one was injured.

The light pole had to be replaced, and Duke Energy crews had to barricade the area for hours to work on the downed light pole.

WSOC reported seeing ice on the road near the downed pole, not far from the Blue Line.

Traffic is expected to normalize once the repairs are complete.
