Early Morning Apartment Complex Blaze Displaces 15 Families
When firefighters arrived, the roof of the two-story apartment building was ablaze.
CHARLOTTE, NC — At least 15 families were displaced from their homes early Friday morning after a fire broke out in a south Charlotte apartment building.
Charlotte Fire Department reported the blaze at the Timber Creek Apartments on 1100 Falls Creek Lane shortly after 1 a.m.
Firefighters arriving on the scene found "heavy fire showing through the roof."

More than 40 firefighters were called in to control the fire, which they put out in under an hour, CFD said.
According to CFD, 20 adults, eight children along with pets were displaced in the incident. "Working smoke alarms alerted occupants," and officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department knocked on doors to assist with the evacuation. No one was reported injured in the incident.

The American Red Cross Greater Carolinas Region is assisting the families.
The fire is under investigation, fire officials said.
