CHARLOTTE, NC — Mecklenburg County Public Health is offering flu shots and COVID-19 testing at one drive-thru event Saturday.

The Dec. 12 event is set to run from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the Valerie Woodard Center, located at 3205 Freedom Drive in Charlotte.

Flu Shots
"This season, a flu vaccine is more important than ever to reduce the risk of flu for yourself, your family and your community. Getting your flu shot can also reduce the burden of flu illness on the healthcare system and save medical resources to care for people with COVID-19," MPCPH said.

To get a flu shot:

  • No preregistration is needed for flu shots.
  • There is NO out-of-pocket cost. Insurance is NOT required.
  • Standard dose flu shots only are available at drive-thru clinics. For high-dose vaccine or FluMist nasal spray, call 704- 336-6500 for an appointment.

COVID-19 Testing
"Mecklenburg County is experiencing high community transmission of COVID-19," MCPH said.

MCPH recommends testing if you:

  • Have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19.
  • Are higher risk due to age, other health conditions, or work environment.
  • Have recently attended any gathering, especially one where COVID-19 safety guidance was not followed.

To get a COVID-19 test:

  • There is NO out-of-pocket cost. Insurance is NOT required.
  • Preregistration is strongly recommended for a faster process. Preregister by visiting www.doineedacovid19test.com.
