  1. "It has been more than four months since Charlotte native Shanquella Robinson was found dead in Cabo, Mexico. After holding a news conference in Washington, D.C. demanding the federal government take action to bring her killer to justice in early March, the family is now calling on President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken personally to bring the family justice. National activist and attorney Ben Crump participated in the news conference earlier this month and the message was clear: to get top politicians such as President Joe Biden to publicly acknowledge the case to put pressure on the investigation," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  2. "Looking at the Charlotte skyline you might not realize there's something pretty amazing underneath all of those skyscrapers. Actually, a couple of hundred feet down below there are several abandoned gold mines. All of them aren't too far from Bank of America Stadium, right in the middle of the popular South End neighborhood," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  3. "A new rideshare company called Goldsainte will give you the opportunity to ride in luxury cars around Charlotte. The company, founded by local entrepreneur Andre Powell, will launch its app on the App Store and Google Play Store by the end of this week. Why it matters: the service is already being used by celebrities, like Chris Weidman, Rapsody and Chris Manhertz, according to Powell. But, he hopes Goldsainte will help make luxury vehicles more accessible," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  4. "We’ve seen a number of car dealerships in Charlotte hit by thieves in the middle of the night lately, including a recent incident involving several high-end cars. Whenever a pattern like this emerges there’s no doubt police are noticing it too, but the question is what are dealerships in the area doing to better secure their inventory. ... This time around, the incident in question went down at about 2 am on February 27. Like in so many other heists, the suspects just smashed the glass on the showroom doors and walked on in. Then they rooted around, finding key fobs in a desk on the showroom floor. Why dealerships aren’t doing more to secure fobs, including taking them off-site at night, is beyond us," msnNow reports. (msnNOW)
  5. "Karen Hubbard, a retired associate professor of dance, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from North Carolina Dance Education Organization at the 2023 conference held at UNC Charlotte. Hubbard, who has danced on Broadway, television and film, retired in 2022 after teaching in the Department of Dance for 36 years. While at UNC Charlotte, she evolved an innovative approach to teaching Vintage Jazz Dance; the students in her class learned jazz movement from the first half of the 20th century as well as cultural, historical/aesthetic aspects of the form," Inside UNC Charlotte reports. (Inside UNC Charlotte)
  6. "No. 18 North Carolina plays outside the friendly confines of Boshamer Stadium for only the second time this season as it ventures west to Charlotte to take on the the homestanding 49ers on Tuesday before returning home to face High Point Wednesday afternoon. The Tar Heels are coming off an 8-3 homestand that ended with a 6-0 win over No. 17 Virginia on Saturday in the back end of a doubleheader," UNC Athletics reports. (UNC Athletics)
  7. "Three people were seriously injured in a crash involving a CATS bus and garbage truck in Charlotte's South End early Tuesday morning, officials said. Medic responded to a crash at the intersection of South Tryon Street and Clanton Road around 6 a.m. According to Medic, one person was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two others were taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
