Grandbuddies Project Connects Windsor Run Residents, Local Students

Intergenerational event is in its sixth year at Erickson Senior Living community in Matthews

The Windsor Run Grandbuddies Project was amazing again! Residents at the Erickson Senior Living community in Matthews, North Carolina partnered with students from the 4th grade classes of St. Gabriel Catholic School to have their biographies written by the youngsters.

Since February, the students have been visiting Windsor Run to interview their “grandbuddies” about their life experiences. The end result of these conversations were incredible and lovely books complete with stories and hand-drawn artwork. The Grandbuddies Project is in its sixth year.

“We have immense gratitude for the administration, teachers, and parent chaperones of St. Gabriel for their continued support of this uplifting intergenerational activity,” said Becky Dinello, Community Resources Coordinator at Windsor Run. “It is so rewarding to watch how the residents and students create an amazing relationship and learn from each other over the course of the year, an experience the students will remember forever!”
