Here are the top three stories in Charlotte today:
- Atrium Health's Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte has broken its record for heart transplants. The record-breaking – 30 – number of transplants is due to new technology that allows a heart to continue beating outside of a body. The new technology allows the heart transplant team to service an area twice as big. (Charlotte Observer)
- State investigators closed a license plate agency near Charlotte on Friday, according to N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles. The closure is reportedly due to "gross incompetence" at the Huntersville location at 12101 Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. The driver's license office and the License & Theft Bureau District office that are in the same building are not affected by the agency's closure. (Charlotte Observer)
- The Diaper Bank of North Carolina is opening a permanent location in the Charlotte area. The new location will be at 3418 Vance Court, Suite D. The Diaper Bank of North Carolina is hosting a celebration at the new location on Sep. 29 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The new location will allow the nonprofit to consistently provide resources to Charlotte residents throughout the year.
