Lockdown At Garinger High Ends With Arrest Of Shooting Suspect
Police say all in the school are safe after the suspect of a nearby shooting fled to the school grounds.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Garinger High School was placed under a police lockdown earlier this morning after a shooting suspect entered the building.
Just before 7 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were notified of shots fired near the intersection of Sugar Creek Road and Eastway Drive, authorities said.
Police spokesman Officer Justin Davies said officers learned that at least one suspect involved in the incident ran toward Garinger High at 1100 Eastway.

“The school was placed on lockdown while officers provided security to the school and searched for any suspects,” Davies said.
One person was arrested, and police continue to search for any other suspects. Davies said no one was injured and police will remain at the school through the day to make sure everyone is safe.
