Man Charged With Murder Of His 3-Year-Old Child's Mother

Corey Patterson, 29, has been charged with murder in the death of Jaqusica Wilson, 27. Their three-year-old girl was found safe by police.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A Charlotte mother is dead and the father of her child is in custody, charged with her murder according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

At approximately 6:30 am on February 13, North Division officers responded to a check the welfare call for service on Swan Drive. When police arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound, pronounced dead by paramedics.

She has been identified by police as Jaqusica Wilson, 27. She leaves behind a three-year-old girl who became the subject of an Amber Alert after her death.

Detectives have charged Corey Patterson, 29, with murder.

CMPD’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) apprehended Patterson without incident. Following an interview, Patterson was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder and possession of by a felon. VCAT was also able to find the toddler at the time of the apprehension of Patterson who was safe and sound. She has been reunited with family, according to police.
