Metal Detectors Proposed In Charlotte Schools After Gun Uptick
More than a dozen guns have been caught in CMS schools this year.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte Mecklenburg School District board member Rhonda Cheek is fed up with hearing guns are making their way into local classrooms, according to statements she made this week.
The school board meets Tuesday night and plans to discuss safety.
Cheek is discussing options like clear backpacks and even metal detectors, and calling on parents for help after 15 guns have been discovered this year alone per FOX 46.

The issue was spurred by a fight at Hopewell High School last week, where a gun fell on the floor during the physical altercation.
