The Most Popular One-Bedroom Design at Windsor Run

The Bradford floor plan provides gorgeous layout, convenient amenity access for residents of Erickson Senior Living community in Matthews

"I like everything about my apartment home," says Denise Marquart, who moved to Windsor Run, an Erickson Senior Living community in Matthews, N.C., this past July.

Denise chose the Bradford, a one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath floor plan that's flooded with lots of natural light.

"I especially like the floor-to-ceiling window, large kitchen, and comfortable living area," she says.

According to Sales Director Ryan Barkley, the Bradford is Windsor Run's most popular one-bedroom floor plan design.

"A lot of people who move to Windsor Run are looking to rightsize to a space that better fits their lifestyle today and their future goals," he explains. "The Bradford design is the perfect blend of size and functionality. Everyone who chooses this floor plan enjoys the layout, size, and enviable kitchen."

A Long Island, N.Y., native, Denise moved to a condo in North Carolina 15 years ago following her retirement. But when she was approaching her 80th birthday, Denise began considering a move from her condo to a retirement community.

"With no family living nearby, I wanted to live in a community where I would feel supported and taken care of," she says. "If something were to happen, if I was to fall or become ill, I'd want to know that someone is looking out for me."

She adds, "At Windsor Run, someone is always around. Although I had friends in the neighborhood, they weren't living in the same condo building."

The responsibilities that came with living in a condo were also wearing on her. At Windsor Run, being free of home maintenance would grant her more time to pursue hobbies and participate in activities with new friends.

The perfect fit

After deciding on Windsor Run, Denise turned her attention to choosing a floor plan.

"I knew that I would be perfectly happy in a one-bedroom home, but it was important to me that the bedroom was big enough to accommodate my large desk. I've been a secretary all my life, so I can't live without a desk," she says, with a laugh.

Thinking she would plan ahead for a move to Windsor Run in a year or two, Denise accepted an invitation to tour the community's available one-bedroom residences.

"I told a friend who was already living at Windsor Run that I was only going to look. But when I saw this apartment, I knew it was the one," she says. "As soon as we opened the door, I saw the beautiful floor-to-ceiling window. Right then and there, I thought ‘I have to have this place!' I still remember that moment."

She continues, "And I knew that if I waited, I wouldn't get it. I made the decision to move sooner than planned, and I'm so glad that I did."

Attractive features

The Bradford's large window is just the beginning of the attractive attributes.

"The nine-and-a-half-foot ceilings throughout the home are also lovely," says Denise. "The foyer leads into a very sizeable kitchen. I like that break before getting to the kitchen--it's the perfect place to take off your shoes or coat."

Designed with an open concept, the kitchen flows into the large living room, where to the floor-to-ceiling window is located.

"It's just gorgeous," says Denise. "I placed a glass-top dining table in front of the window. It's my favorite spot in the home."

Denise's spacious bedroom comfortably fits her bed, nightstand, and large wardrobe--and her desk, of course.

"The bedroom leads directly to a large bathroom," she says. "I have more space than I need, and I don't feel cluttered or closed in. Everything in my new home fits beautifully."

More outside your door

Denise finds that her new residence fits her active lifestyle perfectly. Windsor Run maintains guest suites for visiting family and friends, eliminating her need for a guest bedroom. "The guest suites are a wonderful option for residents," she says.

"There is so much to do, and everyone I've met--whether residents or staff--are exceptionally friendly. When people discover that I am new, they go out of their way to welcome me," she says. "That's such a good feeling. I've enjoyed living at Windsor Run since the day I moved in."
