NORTH CAROLINA — Hours after news broke that President Donald Trump tested positive for COVID-19, a Belmont, North Carolina charity said it would temporarily close three business enterprises Friday in order to deep clean after Ivanka Trump made a surprise visit.

The president's daughter and political advisor visited Gaston County Thursday, and made a surprise visit to the Cherubs Cafe, the Cotton Candy Factory and Bliss Gallery in downtown Belmont, WBTV reported. The businesses are owned by Holy Angels, an organization that provides care and opportunities for those with intellectual developmental disabilities.

Early Friday morning, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump both tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The president and his family were tested after White House adviser Hope Hicks was shown to be positive for the coronavirus just hours after traveling with the president. The president and his wife are now among more than 7.26 million Americans who have tested positive for the virus. More than 207,800 Americans have died.

"Along with the rest of the world, we have learned this morning that the President and the First Lady have contracted COVID-19," Holy Angels said, via Facebook. "Yesterday, Ivanka Trump visited three of Holy Angels retail establishments in downtown Belmont, N.C. We were pleased to learn from the White House that Ivanka’s COVID-19 test this morning was negative, along with her husband Jared Kushner."

The deep cleaning, which was not required, was to take place Friday, the organization said.
