NC Food Stamp Recertification Affected By Supply Chain Disruption

Those who are applying to recertify for food stamps will not get an envelope to return their documents in, but they can submit their own.

NORTH CAROLINA — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services was unable to include return envelopes in the monthly mailing of the Food and Nutrition Services recertification for February. The issue is due to global shortages and delays in shipments.

Return envelopes will likely not be included in the monthly mailings for March as well.

The department wants to reassure applicants that FNS recipients who received the recertification form can still submit those forms to continue receiving benefits, if still eligible. The FNS recertification can be returned to the local Department of Social Services in the following ways:

  • Dropped off at the local department of social services
  • Faxed
  • Mailed using personal envelope (address is listed on the top left-hand corner of the recertification form)
