NC Snow Storm: Ice Makes Roads Dangerous Tuesday Morning
Everything Monday night into Tuesday morning froze again, making roads potentially dangerous locally.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Roads Tuesday morning showed potential for ice lingering as temperatures dipped below 20 degrees in some places overnight, refreezing what had tried to melt Monday.
Temperatures in the Charlotte and Lake Norman region are expected to remain below freezing until roughly 11 a.m., so officials urge people who don't have to travel before then to stay off the roads.
If you do have to travel, here are some tips to avoid ice and stay safe from the USDA.

- Black ice forms most commonly at night or in the early morning when the temperatures are at their lowest, or when the sun isn't around to warm the roads.
- Black ice tends to form on parts of the road without much sunshine, such as along a tree-lined route or a tunnel.
- It will also form more frequently on roads that are less traveled on.
- Black ice forms readily on bridges, overpasses and the road beneath overpasses. This is because the cold air is able to cool both the top and under the bridge or overpass, bringing about faster freezing.
Accuweather advises people to do the following on ice:
- Keep distance between your car and the car in front of you
- Don't hit the brakes to avoid skidding; hold steering wheel steady
- Don't overcorrect steering
Temperatures Tuesday night will dip below freezing, but not by as much as they did Monday night, with lows forecasted in the low 30s.
