NC Woman Catches Burlington Tornado On Video: Watch

"Look at that, y'all! Holy cow, there it is! Right there — that's a tornado!"

NORTH CAROLINA — Thursday was a dark day throughout much of North Carolina, as cumulonimbus clouds, laden heavy with rain and bulging overhead in threatening shades of charcoal, moved eastward across the state. Rain poured. People hunkered down. The wind blew, sometimes hard.

Then, Maryann Tucker in Burlington and on a hot dog run with her husband, saw her first tornado.

"Oh crap! I see the wind," Tucked yelled in a Facebook Live video brimming with the level of unbridled joy and enthusiasm typically reserved for spotting an A-list celebrity. "Look at that, y'all! Holy cow, there it is! That's a tornado!"

And sure enough, a little over a minute into her impromptu weather video, a funnel cloud appears on the right side of Church Street, behind the Sonic Drive-In, strip malls and stoplights.

Was it a real tornado? The National Weather Service has yet to make the call, the Charlotte Observer reported Friday morning.

NWS did confirm an EF-0 tornado clocking 85 mph winds touched down around 5 p.m. about 50 miles away in High Point.

Tucker, however, appeared to have all the evidence she needed.

"I am officially in a tornado," she told her Facebook live viewers. "This is amazing, as long as nobody gets hurt. Please forgive me for acting like a moron, because y'all know it's just me."
