New Batch Of Vaccine Appointments Available Tuesday: MCPH

The new appointments come as the state readies to open up vaccinations to all adults who want one. Here's how to make an appointment.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Mecklenburg County Public Health will make available a new batch of first-dose appointments for COVID vaccinations at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, it announced Monday.

The new appointments, which are for appointments through April 12 at the county's vaccination clinic at the Bojangles' Coliseum, come as the state readies to open up vaccine eligibility.

All adults who want a vaccine in North Carolina will be eligible to receive one as of April 7, Gov. Roy Cooper announced last week.

Group 4 essential workers in commercial services such as hospitality and retail, chemical and pharmaceutical facilities, construction, housing and real estate will become eligible for a vaccine as of Wednesday, March 31. This category includes those who work in food service, bank tellers, plumbers, electricians, and sanitation workers.

More information about Group 4 eligibility may be found here.

One week after the Group 4 eligibility expansion — on April 7 — anyone who wants a vaccine may seek an appointment.

Those in Group 4 and 5 don't have to wait for their eligibility date to make appointments, MCPH said.

"Groups 1-5 can schedule appointments; Group 5 is eligible for appointment dates starting on April 7."
