Police Search For Gray F150 Truck In Fatal Hit & Run Probe

Police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck who they say struck and killed a man crossing North Tryon Street, then fled.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are searching for the driver of a gray Ford F150 pickup truck after a 32-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing a street in north Charlotte Thursday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight Aug. 5 in the 6500 block of North Tryon Street, near Tom Hunter Road.

When officers arrived at the scene of the crash, they found victim Ronnie Bernard Little, Jr., lying in the roadway and seriously injured, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

Little was pronounced dead at the scene.

CMPD has launched an investigation and said their preliminary findings indicate Little was crossing the southbound lanes of North Tryon Street when he was struck by a gray 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed.

"The driver of the pickup did not stop but fled the scene," CMPD said in a statement. "The investigation is ongoing to locate the vehicle and identify its driver."

CMPD said anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
