Positive COVID-19 Cases Reported At 102 CMS Schools
The school district reported at least 102 schools have reported one or more cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
CHARLOTTE, NC — At least 102 schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district have reported one or more positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days, the school district said Monday.
One school has 25 or more students and/or staff members quarantining in the last 14 days, Kathy Elling, chief school performance officer for CMS schools said.

- Of the 41,688 students who attended in-person instruction between Nov. 25 and Dec. 4, 67 tested positive for COVID-19
- Of the 19,106 CMS employees who worked between Nov. 25 and Dec. 4, at least 94 tested positive for COVID-19
- At least 51 schools have two or more positive COVID-19 cases
- 5 CMS schools have 15 or more students and/or staff in active quarantine
- There are no reports of school clusters (five or more related cases)
"We anticipated quarantine numbers to be larger than case counts because we are being extra careful about identifying close contacts as a result of our work with the health department," Elling said.

North Carolina reported 399,362 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state Monday, which included 4,372 newly confirmed cases in the state since Sunday, according to data released Dec. 7 by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
