Recall Issued On Whole Foods Red Lentil Dal Over Listeria Concerns
The affected products shipped to 49 states. The recall was spurred by a recall of an ingredient, pickled curry cauliflower.

CHARLOTTE, NC — North Carolina-based Bakkavor USA issued a voluntary nationwide recall of Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal after it was discovered it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which causes Listeria disease.
Bakkavor announced its recall after it was informed one of the product's ingredients, pickled curry cauliflower, was recalled by Doux South Specialties, LLC, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration news release. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. In many people, the bacteria can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria also can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
