Shocking Details Revealed About Fatal Crash Involving Officer

Court documents reveal the truck driver involved in the fatal crash tried to escape the scene of the incident, and tampered with evidence.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Court records reveal disturbing details following the crash that took the life of a Charlotte Police officer Dec. 22.

A WCNC investigation showed affidavits stating truck driver Daniel Morgan, 50, was not supposed to be driving the tractor-trailer that struck and killed Officer Mia Goodwin on I-85 in Charlotte last Wednesday.

The trailer on the vehicle was not yet registered, and Morgan was charged with putting false registration on the trailer.

The documents also state he not only tampered with evidence and removed a device from the dash of his rig, but that he also tried to leave the scene of the fatal crash by walking up an on ramp.
