Shootout In North Charlotte Turns Deadly, Results In Police Chase

Two people were shot, one of them died and the other has life-threatening injuries.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Detectives with CMPD are investigating a gunshot death in the 8600 block of Swank Place in North Charlotte.

Shortly after midnight, police were called to the area where they discovered a man inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Officers were also alerted to a car that sped away from the scene and were able to go after it, according to CMPD. After a brief chase, the car crashed into a pole and police found two people inside. One of them also had gunshot wounds and life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to Atrium Main.
