SWAT Team Takes Barricaded Suspect Into Custody After Standoff

The man accused of firing a gun during a domestic dispute surrendered after barricading himself for hours in an apartment near Uptown.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A man accused of firing a gun during a domestic dispute who barricaded himself for hours in a standoff with police near Uptown Charlotte Monday evening was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, according to police.

The incident began around 10 p.m. in an apartment located in the Cadence Music Factory Apartment complex, located at 600 NC Music Factory Boulevard.

The man allegedly fired a shot into the floor of an apartment during a domestic dispute, WSOC reported. A woman fled the apartment, but the suspect refused to come out, according to the station.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team responded to the scene. "After several hours of negotiating, the suspect was safely apprehended and taken into custody after 2 a.m.," CMPD said.
