Teen Girl Reports Sexual Assault In Harris Teeter Parking Lot, Man Arrested

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested a man after a young woman reported being sexually assaulted in a grocery store parking lot, according to authorities.

CMPD states the teenager was at the Harris Teeter Grocery Store on Wyalong Drive when the incident happened in the evening of February 24. The girl was taken to Novant Mint Hill Hospital for treatment, and police took her report there. r.

The CMPD’s Sexual Assault Unit responded to assist with the investigation and began canvassing the area in search of evidence and additional information. As the investigation continued, detectives identified Lorenzo Esteban, 39 as the suspect.

Detectives located Esteban and interviewed him. Following the interview, Esteban was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second degree sex offense and attempted second degree sex offense.
