Here are the top three stories today in Charlotte:
- A train downed power lines and shut down Interstate 77 on Monday morning. The incident occurred between Woodlawn and Tyvola roads. The downed power lines led to a power outage for thousands of Charlotte residents that lasted over an hour. The tracks are owned and maintained by Norfolk Southern. (WBTV.com)
- Charlotte will begin hosting the 2022 Presidents Cup today at Quail Hollow Club. The city partnered with PGA TOUR to host the event. The cup runs through Sunday. City officials warn that the event will likely cause an increase in traffic around the city due to the high amount of people attending the event. (City of Charlotte)
- Actor's Theatre of Charlotte will be closing after its "Evil Dead the Musical." The announcement was made through an email to subscribers and a note posted on the theatre's website. The closure is reportedly due to the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. (Charlotte Observer)
