Here are the top three stories in Charlotte today:

  1. A pickup truck crashed into a northeast Charlotte building on Sunday. The crash occurred along Countryside Drive near West Arrowood Road. There was no indication of what led to the crash, but officials are currently investigating the incident. (WCNC.com)
  2. According to the RE/MAX National Housing Report for August, Charlotte home sales are cooling down. Despite the 20 percent home sale decline, prices continue to climb. The cooling market is due to rising mortgage rates and rising home prices. Home prices in Charlotte have risen 16 percent this year. (WCNC.com)
  3. Charlotte's Ronald Pierce has won $1 million with a $30 scratch-off ticket. The winning ticket was purchased on Independence Boulevard, near East Roosevelt Boulevard, from the Food Lion. Pierce chose to take the lump sum amount of $600,000 from the lottery's headquarters. He will take home $426,069 after taxes. (News Maven)
