Meteorologist, Pilot Killed In Charlotte TV News Chopper Crash
The chopper crashed around 12:20 p.m. near southbound I-77, according to reports.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The two people killed Tuesday when a TV news helicopter crashed on Interstate 77 near Charlotte have been identified, according to multiple reports.
The Robinson R44 crashed around 12:20 p.m. near Nations Ford Road and southbound I-77, NBC News reported, citing the Federal Aviation Administration.
The chopper belonged to the local CBS news station WBTV, the station confirmed. WBTV meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag were killed in the crash.

"The WBTV family is grieving a terrible loss," station officials said in a statement. "Our news helicopter Sky3 crashed mid-day Tuesday with two of our colleagues on board. Meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag lost their lives. We are working to comfort their families in this difficult time. We appreciate the outpouring of support for our staff and your continued prayers for their families."
The interstate is expected to be closed until midnight, WSOC-TV reported, citing the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
