UNC Charlotte Will Teach Virtually Until At Least January 24th

CHARLOTTE, NC — The UNC Charlotte campus will remain largely quiet for another few weeks due to rising cases of COVID-19 locally.

According to the university, classes will start January 10th virtually and remain online though at least January 24th.

"While we remain committed to providing our students an on-campus experience, we must do so as safely as possible. By moving to virtual classes for two weeks, we hope to get past the holiday surge of the omicron variant, reduce the spread of the virus in our on-campus population and minimize disruptions to instruction," reads a campus update on their website.

In an effort to reward students who live on campus not to come back until late January, they're offering a financial incentive.

"Residential students are strongly encouraged to delay their return to campus until Jan. 19-23 for the start of in-person classes. Any student who delays their return to campus will receive a credit to their student account," the update included.

UNC Charlotte requires all students who live on campus to be vaccinated and have proof of vaccination.
