Winter Weather Returns To Charlotte Area First Week Of 2022

Jack Frost made his grand appearance first thing in 2022, ushering in frigid temps all week.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Temperatures plummeted Sunday night into Monday and that trend will continue all week.

The forecast on weather.com predicts temperatures under 35 degrees every night through Saturday.

Chief Meteorologist Bran Panovich at WCNC told viewers Sunday that while some may see snow flurries into Monday, they won't stick south of the North Carolina mountains which are getting a coating early in the week.

As for the rest of the week, Monday into Tuesday is another frigid evening with a forecasted low of 25 degrees, and more rain.

Tuesday, keep the good socks and mittens out because even though the rain stops and it's sunny, the low is 29 degrees and the high is just 47 degrees.

Wednesday the low is 36 with a high of 55, followed by a chance of rain on Thursday when the low is still under freezing at 31 degrees.

Friday into Saturday, the heater will get even more of a workout with a low of 25 degrees.

If you are traveling into the high country region of North Carolina, check road conditions before you go throughout the week. Local meteorologists including Panovich are predicting several inches of snow through Monday, and more snow on Thursday.
