Here are the top two stories today in Marietta:

  1. During Monday's meeting, the Marietta City School District Board of Education discussed many topics including the renewal of levies, the school calendar, and a partnership with Boys and Girls Club of Washington County. District Treasurer Frank Antill also explained to new members how the levies work. The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Feb. 28 at 6:00 p.m. (Marietta Times)
  2. On Tuesday morning, some members of the Marietta community may have been affected by a Parkersburg power outage. After a car struck a power pole at the intersection of East Street, there was a brief power outage in Parkersburg. Mon Power claims that over 1,000 customers were without and that it should be restored now. (WTAP-TV)
  3. On Jan. 25, Peoples Bancorp Inc. announced Kevin R. Reeves has been elected to the Peoples Board of Directors. Reeves also joined the Board of Directors of Peoples' banking subsidiary, Peoples Bank. The 55-year-old is head of US Markets in Zero Carbon Energy for BP's Gas & Low Carbon Energy Group in Columbus.   • Washington County Sheriff Larry R Mincks has upgraded to a level two snow emergency. Level two means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow.   • Yesterday, Marietta College held an induction ceremony for the newest members of Alpha Alpha Alpha, which recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation college students. (Facebook)
