- Marietta and much of Ohio saw a lot of ice during yesterday's winter weather conditions. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has been working around the clock to help clear the roads, but "it’s not easy with the cold weather," said Sgt. Eric Knowlton. On the plus side, Knowlton noted that crash numbers are at or below that of previous winters. He told WTAP he believes this is because drivers are staying off the roads or driving more carefully. (WTAP-TV)
- After 25 years of service, Dianna Hively has retired from the Marietta Police Department. Hively was one of Marietta’s only female police officers ever. She plans to spend her retirement in Marietta. (WTAP-TV)
- Crystal Dawn Burke, a former Marietta Middle School boys basketball coach, pled guilty to nine counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Burke was not sentenced during this hearing but with the plea, there is an agreement that she will be sentenced to four to 11 years in prison. The incidents took place between July and November 2020.
