  1. In Parkersburg, the principal of Kanawha Elementary was honored with the Patriot Award. Matt Null was excited and humbled as he received the award for his work with military guardsmen. Null was nominated for the award by Head Custodian Kevin Haught (92 Alpha Logistic Supply), who thanked Null for his constant support of himself and his family. (WTAP)
  2. Micro Machine Works is investing in a Barlow Township facility. The company was founded in 1992 and produces custom metal parts for manufacturers. Because it currently has more demand than it can fill, it will invest $650,000 in a large 5-axis CNC machining center for its Barlow Township facility. (Subscription: Marietta Times)
  3. A Texas man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly soliciting a 10-year-old. Ruben Romero of El Paso, 36, reportedly sent explicit messages, asked for explicit pictures, and asked to meet up with a 10-year-old female on Snapchat. Parkersburg Police Internet Crimes Detectives had been investigating Romero since July. (WOWK 13 News)

  • We Lov Pets in Marietta is hosting a free vaccine clinic for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley. Vaccines will be administered for dogs and cats on Feb. 11 from 1-3 p.m. An adopt-a-thon will immediately follow the clinic, and if you have an appropriate adoption application, you can leave with your pet that day!   • Pioneer Peloton Challenge is making its grand return as part of Marietta College's 2023 Day of Giving on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.! Trustee Andrew Ferguson will contribute $50 per rider to the Marietta Fund for anyone who participates. For those with Peloton Bikes®, Ferguson will give another $2,500 to each rider in honor of the Pioneer of your choice for anyone who can beat his output metrics. (Marietta College)
