- The Entrepreneurship Program at Marietta College hosted the PioSolve Hackathon, which encouraged students to find creative solutions students can put into action. The top three of the six competing teams will receive between $200 and $400. A list of winners will be posted at the link when they're made available. (WTAP)
- Marietta College will soon be the home to a brand new softball facility thanks to generous donors Joseph A. and Linda J. Chlapaty. The Chlapatys donated $750,000, giving the college enough funding to finalize its plans for a $1.1 million upgrade to the facility. A FieldTurf surface will replace natural grass, more lights, and stadium bleachers with a press box. To receive the full gift, the Chlapatys challenged the college to raise an additional $350,000. (Parkersburg News)
- Officers in nearby Parkersburg may soon see a raise in their paychecks. According to Mayor Tom Joyce, the department is struggling with recruiting and retention. He wants to raise the hourly wage by $1.04. The new pay raise will be discussed by the city council on Feb. 28. (West Virginia MetroNews)
