  1. The Marietta Welfare League presented local nonprofit organizations with a total of $70,000 in donations this year despite some of the COVID setbacks. The welfare league operates the gift shop at Marietta Memorial Hospital and donates to various organizations in the area, including food pantries. Nearing almost 100 years in operation, the shop has a variety of items and drinks for purchase. (Marietta Times)
  2. On Thursday evening, the Washington County Commission signed a resolution that will fund the county home. Residents of the home have been sleeping on mattresses that are over 20 to 30 years old. This funding will allow them to purchase beds, headboards, footboards, mattresses, and nightstands and will furnish over 60 rooms. (Marietta Times)
  3. A high-speed chase out of West Virginia ended in Marietta with a stand-off with dozens of law enforcement. Witnesses say a squad car caught on fire after a suspect allegedly threw something at it. Dozens of officers were on the scene, some in the stand-off and others blocking traffic away from the scene.
