Here are the top 3 stories in Marietta today:
- Ohio Valley University filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the United State Bankruptcy Court in Wheeling. Most of the university’s students have transferred to other institutions, but 16 OVU students will graduate this spring. The bankruptcy clerk will issue notices to all creditors and parties of interested in the coming days. (WTRF)
- The Marietta Times reports that several school districts in the Ohio part of the Mid-Ohio Valley region have varied their timelines of when to lift mask mandates. “Everyone has been without masks except for Wood County," said Marietta City Schools Superintendent William Hampton. Hampton continued that the district and the district school nurse are working together to monitor the COVID-19 situation. (Subscription: Marietta Times)
- Your next trip to Parkersburg may look different in the coming weeks as the city is demolishing 10 blighted structures. On Wednesday, crews razed two buildings in part of a $96,500 contract to clean 10 problem properties. Once all the buildings are down, the city will have demolished more than 150 buildings in the past four fiscal years. (Parkersburg News)
