Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- At Monday night's Marietta City Council meeting, a new warming station resolution was passed. Citizens had been concerned about the safety of the warming stations at the Armory and the community building at Gold Star Park. The resolution that was passed establishes hours and safety and security protocols for any building that becomes a warming station at its discretion. (WTAP-TV)
- At a ceremony on Monday afternoon, two new Marietta firefighters were sworn in and two officers were promoted to captain and Lieutenant. Mayor Josh Schlicher was in attendance for the swearing of new officers Daniel Allen and Stephanie Boso. Additionally, Officer Eric Moore was promoted to captain and Matthew Alloway was promoted to lieutenant. (WTAP-TV)
- Marietta art lovers are in luck, as The Parkersburg Art Center will host its annual Y’Art Sale this Saturday. The event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at the center at Eighth and Market streets in Parkersburg. The Y’Art Sale collects high-quality pieces donated to the center to generate funds to support the community with arts outreach programs. (Subscription: Marietta Times)
