On 10 Jul 2021 while on patrol on State Route 7, Deputy Painter noticed a truck towing a trailer with no visible registration. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver and passenger were identified, with the passenger being Brandon Hayes. Upon inquiring if anything was in the vehicle that should not be, Hayes said he had some ”weed”. Deputy Painter obtained a tin with a green leafy substance, a grinder, and pipe. The substance later weighed 2.81 grams. Brandon Paul Hayes, age 30, 280 Dempsey Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, was advised that he would be receiving a summons from Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

On 10 Jul 2021 while on patrol on State Route 7, Deputy Painter noted a passenger vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The radar confirmed the speed at 69 mph in a 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted with the driver, Robert Wheeler III. The odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. When asked about the smell of marijuana being in the vehicle now or in the past, Wheeler stated “last night”. When asked again reference to certainty, he stated he had a “one-hitter” in the vehicle. A search revealed a marijuana pipe with marijuana in it. Also located was a gallon-sized bag containing a green leafy substance. Later found to weigh 67.93 grams. Robert Lee Wheeler III, age 28, 104 ½ Main Street, Pomeroy, OH, was advised that he would be receiving a summons from Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.
On 10 Jul 2021 Deputy Painter was on patrol on State Route 7 when he noticed a minivan traveling at a high rate of speed. This was confirmed with the radar showing 71 mph in a 60 mph zone. A traffic stop revealed the driver, Dale M. Lacy, was driving without a driver’s license. Lacy was asked if there was anything in the vehicle that should not be and he stated a “weed pipe”. Lacy was asked to step out of the vehicle and surrendered a wallet to officers on the scene, which contained a white powdery substance. Also removed from the vehicle was a small baggie of marijuana and a smoking pipe. Lacy confirmed the substance was meth. Dale Michael Lacy, age 25, 140 Main Avenue, Apt. 13, Nitro, WV, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance, no operator’s license, speed, possession of marijuana, and marijuana paraphernalia.

On 11 Jul 2021 Deputy Crum began an investigation into identity fraud. This case remains under investigation.
On 11 Jul 2021 Deputy Aultman began an investigation into an ATV being removed from a residence to be worked on. After completing the investigation it was determined that no charges would be filed and the victim refused to prosecute.
On 11 Jul 2021 deputies spoke with a subject in reference to an incident that occurred in Salem Township. Cody Handschumacher at one point would not allow the individual to leave the home. Handschumacher had shut the door, locking it so the victim could not leave. Handschumacher also put his foot in the front of the door. Handschumacher confirmed the events of the evening. Cody A. Handschumacher, age 32, 530 Dalzell Road, Whipple, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.

On 12 Jul 2021 deputies responded to 2120 Bell Road, Vincent, OH, to a report by Ashley Holbert that she and Timothy Holbert were having a dispute. An argument had ensued, with Timothy throwing her phone and shoving her. After completing the investigation it was determined that Timothy A Holbert, age 38, would be placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.

On 8 Jul 2021, Deputy Martin began an investigation into a scam over an online selling/purchasing business. This case remains under investigation.
On 8 Jul 2021 deputies were dispatched to the Island View Tanning Salon, 4790 State Route 60, Marietta, OH, to a theft complaint. It was reported that Jessica Dalrymple came into the business on 2 Jul and stole a bottle of tanning lotion displayed at the counter, valued at $55.12. After conducting the investigation deputies determined that Jessica N. Dalrymple, age 35, 117 Ohio Blvd., Marietta, OH, would be summoned into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of theft.
On 8 Jul 2021 Deputy Tornes began an investigation into a K9 running at large. This case remains under investigation.
On 9 Jul 2021 Deputy Crum began an investigation into stolen tools from a tool trailer. This case remains under investigation.

Linda Michelle Eblin, age 32, Racine, OH, contempt of court, Meigs County warrant.
Kristin Nicole Dutcher, age 38, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.
Justin Alexzander Simpson, age 32, Marietta, OH, parole violation, a felony.
There are currently 22 female inmates and 97 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
