'Blue Crew' Wins Slow Pitch Championship

A girls slow pitch softball team won the championship title as its season came to a close. The "Blue Crew" team took home the big win.

"Blue Crew" entered the playoffs as the No. 5 seed out of eight teams and went undefeated to win the championship. 

The final game was highlighted by Denée Renz's two-run home run that cleared the left field fence, a gutsy pitching performance by Emma Planitzer and Cassi DeLuca coming in with the bases loaded and two outs, and getting the batter—who was the tying run—to fly out, ending the game.

The slow pitch recreational softball league season in Peters runs from April through the end of June each year.
