Learning Institute Comes to Washington County
The independent assessment team determines a child's need for early intervention services.

For the first time in its 54-year history, The Early Learning Institute (TELI) is now serving children ages birth to three in Washington County through independent assessments in early intervention.Â
TELI is filling a need in assessment services in Washington County, especially in the area of physical therapy where there is a shortage. TELI’s independent assessment team provides comprehensive physical, occupational, speech and developmental evaluations and determines a child’s need for early intervention services.Â
Families in Washington County who have concerns about their child’s development must first contact Washington Communities at 724-225-6940 to begin the evaluation process.Â

TELI’s move into Washington County is a timely one as the demand for physical therapy evaluations is on the rise, but the number of physical therapists available to do the assessments remains the same.Â
The Bureau of Labor Statistics cites physical therapy as one of the 30 fastest-growing occupations and predicts a 30 percent gain by 2018, according to a release. TELI has a total of seven physical therapists on staff, two of which are readily available to serve the county.Â
