Peters Native Keeps Kent State Alive
Pittsburgh Pirates draftee Jimmy Rider scored the eventual game-winning run Monday in the College World Series.

Some are calling the Kent State Golden Flashes the darlings of the 2012 College World Stories—Venetia native Jimmy Rider is credited for much of that success.
Rider, A 2008 graduate, scored the game-winning run Monday night to eliminate top-ranked University of Florida. Entering today's action, Kent State is one of five teams remaining in tournament play.Â
Rider, a shortstop, is the Mid-American Conference's all-time hits leader with 353 hits. On Monday, he had two singles and a double for his team-leading, 32nd, multi-hit game of the season. Also, he extended his single-season records for hits (106) and doubles (30).

Tonight might be the biggest challenge for Kent State, as the team plays two-time defending champion South Carolina.Â
