1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured In Violent Pittsburgh Incident

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man is dead following a Thursday morning incident in Banksville that also left a woman severely injured.
Just after 9:45 a.m., city police responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Winchester Drive for reports of a female who had been assaulted.
Inside the home, officers located a woman with significant facial lacerations and injuries. Pittsburgh EMS took her to the hospital in critical condition.

During a protective sweep of the residence, police located a man on the second floor with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release the identity of the dead man.

Crime Scene Unit detectives processed evidence and Violent Crime Unit detectives will continue with the investigation.
