Allegheny Co. Mail-In Balloting, Polling Place Changes: Latest Info

You might be surprised at the large number of Allegheny County voters who have requested mail-in ballots.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The more than 175,000 voters who have requested mail-in ballots in Allegheny County will begin receiving them as early as Saturday, the county elections division announced Thursday.

Mail-in ballot requests must be received by Oct. 29, but the county is urging voters to apply for them as possible.

The county will begin hosting “over the counter” voting in the lobby of the County Office Building, Downtown on Sept. 30. Over the counter voting will be available weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Additional satellite elections offices will be open Oct. 15-17 at Soldiers and Sailors in Oakland and in North Park, South Park, and CCAC Homewood on the weekends of Oct. 19-20 and 26-27. At satellite offices you can register to vote, request a mail in ballot until the October 29 deadline and complete you mail-in ballot and return it on site.

The County Office Building is also a ballot return site for voters who want to return a mail-in ballot.

The elections Division also announced it has recruited 6,700 poll workers, or approximately 97 percent of the maximum number of poll workers to be hired. Poll workers still are needed in the Carrick and Knoxville areas of Pittsburgh, Pleasant Hills and Plum.

More than 60 polling places relocated for the April primary election, and another 30 are being
relocated before November. That means 1o percent of county polling place out of 10 polling places in the county have moved this year. Allegheny County has moved this year. Voters can check their polling place here.

Voters registered for a polling place that is moving for November’s election will receive a post card in the mail informing them of the new address of their polling place. Old polling places will be marked with posters directing voters to their new polling place on Election Day.
