Tull reportedly arranged the talk with Shapiro a day after Musk spoke at Trump's rally in Butler at the same site where the former president narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in July.

According to NBC, Tull and Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and the X social media platform, began discussing Tull's economic investments in Western Pennsylvania. Musk was intrigued, so Tull called Shapiro; during the talk between Musk and the governor, Musk expressed interest in investing in the state.
